Hey, bud. I know you mentioned that some of the AFF students you've been working with had some concerns about AFF and the weather being like it's been. Just do me a favor and let them know that I was in the same boat last year. I started my FJC around mid September and still managed to get my A license without a single recurrency jump. It's true that weather during the winter isn't as nice as the summer but it's definitely doable. The key is to just be patient. They're not going to make someone repeat another level just because they got put on weather hold a few weekends in a row. I'd say on rare occassions, we had two consistently bad weather weekends in a row, BUT we had the same happen over the summer, too. It's just all about being there and being on the schedule. It's also just like any other hobby/sport--you have to make a commitment to be there regularly.
I'd also tell them that being on AFF is one of the most difficult times because you're at the mercy of the weather and the equipment/instructors. Once you get through that hurdle, it gets SO much easier. I was SLAMMED with work so it took me a little longer to get through AFF than most folks because I was working 6 days a week and needed but I'd always try to make that other day the day I jumped.
If any of them have questions, send them my way. I'm not easy to get on the phone but email's usually good. I can always call them back, too.
Thanks, bud.
GO COCKS!!!
