Meeting was held in Gambrell Hall room 151 at 7:00p.m.

The meeting was opened with presentations from GAMMA and SHARE to ensure our members' education on the topics of alcohol use and sexual assault.

GAMMA Presentation
GAMMA (Gamecocks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol) made a presentation at the begining of the meeting. We do not advocate drinking at our events, but if you are over 21 and choose to drink, here are 8 tips from GAMMA.

8 TIPS for a Safe Evening:
0. Remeber, you don't need alcohol to have fun.
1. If consuming alcohol, know what you are drinking.
2. Count your dribnks and know your limits.
3. Slow down, don't chug! Instead, space your drinks and alternate alcoholic drinks with non-alcoholic beverages.
4. Make sure you eat a full meal before you drink.
5. Have a designated driver who has not consumed alcohol in the last 24 hours.
6. Don't mix alcohol with other drugs.
7. Be aware of the unexpected costs (cash and calories) of drinking.

Thanksgiving Celebration Weekend
This is the next big skydive event for the Flying Gamecocks: Nov. 21-23. Sign up before Nov. 12! REMEMBER, this is NOT actual Thanksgiving weekend.. this event is the weekend BEFORE Thanksgiving.. so you can still participate and not miss your family's turkey and pie. :) There will be a Pilgrim and Indian party on Saturday night, so bring your costumes!

Meeting was held in Gambrell Hall room 151 at 7:00p.m.

Topics covered at the meeting:

1. Upcoming First Jump Course (FJC)

Prospective AFF Students! If you're interested in learning how to solo skydive, your next chance is coming up. We will be setting the date for the next First Jump Course soon, so be sure to let us know when works good for you. The FJC is the first step to begin your journey of becoming a licensed skydiver! More information about the AFF Program can be found under the "Skydiving Info" tab.

2. Thanksgiving Celebration: Nov. 21-23

This is our next big event! The last day to sign up for a skydive (tandem or AFF) during that weekend is Nov. 12! Be sure not to miss it! Everyone at the meeting was given a stack of fliers for the event to pass out on campus, etc. to help spread the word of skydiving!

3. It takes a lot of work to become a sports team.

Becoming a sports team has its advantages over being a club organization (what we currently are), and this includes recieving some funds from our school. We will have to make a presentation to a board in order to make this happen. If you're interested in helping research info for the presentation, let us know! (You don't personally have to present anything.. we'll take care of that.) :)

4. New Scheduling Policy

From now on you need to be scheduling your jump about 2 weeks in advance to be sure to get a space reserved. To do this, call Skydive Carolina at 803-581-5867 and don't forget to let them know that you're a member of the Flying Gamecocks at USC!

5. Next Mandatory Meeting: Nov. 12

There will be a meeting Nov. 5, but Nov. 12 will be a mandatory meeting for everyone planning to attend the Thanksgiving Celebration weekend (Nov. 21-23). We will be discussing rides and other details to make the weekend a success!
